Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association Receives $70,000 Grant from the ASPCA to Support Spay and Neuter Program

Canastota, NY — Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association has been awarded a $70,000 grant from the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) to support spay and neuter cost for low-income families and promote responsible pet ownership including expenses associated with creating a more humane society.

The grant will help Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association fund essential lifesaving services such as SPAY AND NEUTER, BETTER FACILITATED ADOPTIONS AND FOSTERING PROGRAMS, VETERINARY CARE, CAPACITY BUILDING, RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP AND LOW-INCOME ASSISTANCE EFFORTS, which are crucial resources to Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association.

“This programming will allow Wanderers’ Rest to further the reach of the organization to help promote responsible pet ownership and setting a tone for a more humane society.  The further the organization can reach to assist low-income homes with spay and neuter the less potential for animals surrendered to the shelter.  These funds will also go a long way to facilitate adoptions at a higher rate to better serve Madison County and the animals we care for.” said Spokesperson, Sarah Murdie Executive Director. “Wanderers’ Rest is grateful to receive $70,000 grant from the ASPCA to support funding for the mission of responsible pet ownership.  These funds will allow WRHA to assist hundreds of animals to receive proper spay and neuter,” said Sarah Murdie, Executive Director of Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association.

The ASPCA is thrilled to support Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association with a grant to fund lifesaving services, including enabling low-cost spay and neuter for pet owners in need,” said ASPCA. “We hope this grant will make a positive impact on not only Wanderers’ Rest but also pet owners in the community.”
